Product Flows in the Petroleum Industry and the Role of “K” LINE’s Fleet

The petroleum industry consists mainly of the following components

“K” LINE’s oil tanker fleet transports crude oil, petroleum products and basic petrochemical products from production regions to refining, manufacturing and storage sites, one element of the midstream process, and plays the following roles according to the application.

Crude oil tankers (VLCC)

Large tankers used to transport crude oil from the Middle East and other regions

Crude oil tankers (AFRAMAX)

Medium-sized tankers used mainly for transporting crude oil produced in such areas as Southeast Asia

Drillships

Drillship is a MODU (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit) designed for exploratory offshore drilling of new oil and gas wells.

FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading)

FPSO is an offshore floating production unit which is designed to separate fluids from subsea into crude oil and natural gas onboard. Crude oil in the storage tanks onboard is offloaded onto shuttle tankers, and natural gas is not only used for self-operation but transferred to shore through the pipeline.
