Conduct Emergency Response Drill

 

 

An emergency response drill was conducted on 24th May 2016 to ensure preparedness of optimum response towards any major maritime accidents.

 

The scenario of the drill evolved as “K” Line LNG vessel allided with a breakwater end due to steering failure while approaching to LNG terminal in North America. The accident resulted in oil spill through the damage part of port bow fuel oil tank of LNG vessel and spilled oil has reached shore. Personnel from other related Ship Management Company (“K” LINE SHIP MANAGEMENT CO., LTD.), ”K” LINE AMERICA, INC., Security and Emergency Management Office, Safety Policy Division of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Maritime Bureau, company attorney, insurance, and consulting agency actively cooperated and participated in the emergency exercise.

 

At the end of the drill, a mock press conference was held as a part of the complete drill proceedings. “K” Line's President Murakami, Senior Managing Executive Officer Kadono, Managing Executive Officer Misaki together with Ship Management Company's (“K” LINE SHIP MANAGEMENT CO., LTD.) President Saito attended the Q&A session during press briefing. Many questions were raised to them by the attended dignitaries and staffs that made the event more realistic and momentous.

 

“K” Line is always preparing for unexpected situation by “Large-scale accident response”. Moreover, we do work on awareness building activities like “Winter Safety Campaign” and visiting vessel by executive officers for nurturing safety culture in “K” Line group.
