Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) is pleased to announce that the “K” LINE Group Environmental Awards ceremony 2026, which honors and recognizes outstanding environmental-preservation activities undertaken by its Group companies, was held at its headquarters on June 8, 2026.

 

The awards were established in 2015, making this year’s awards ceremony the 12th. “K” LINE received many entries from Group companies, both in Japan and overseas. One Grand Award, five Excellence Awards and two Special Awards were presented to eight companies, selected for their activities based on their originality, degree of difficulty, degree of contribution, continuity, ripple effects and other criteria. Takenori Igarashi, Director, Representative Executive Officer, President & CEO, presented commemorative gifts to representatives of the winning companies.

 

The “K” LINE Group will continue to share information about the environmental preservation activities undertaken across its Group companies through the annual “K” LINE Group Environmental Awards to demonstrate the environmental preservation activities of the Group as a whole. By continuing to aggressively contribute to the preservation of the environment and the protection of biodiversity, the “K” LINE Group will successfully accomplish its mission of passing on a sustainable society and blue and beautiful seas to the next generation, as set out in “K” LINE Environmental Vision 2050.*1

The award recipients are as follows:

 

Grand Award
Company: Veritas Maritime Corporation (Philippines)
Initiative: Mahogany and Mangrove Tree Planting and Community Development

Description: Since 2017, the company has undertaken reforestation initiatives throughout the Philippines, including the planting of mahogany trees and mangroves. As the county is highly vulnerable to natural disasters such as typhoons and heavy rains, the company is working to address challenges such as deforestation and coastal environmental degradation through its reforestation initiatives. In addition, the company provides supplies to fishing communities and people engaged in coastal cleanup efforts around Manila Bay.

Excellence Awards
Company: K Line (Thailand) Ltd. (Thailand)
Initiative: Collective Action for Marine Environment Preservation and Aquatic Biodiversity Enhancement at Bangpakong River in Chachoengsao Province

Description: The CSR 2025 GreenHeart for Blue Life initiative was implemented in the Bang Pakong area of Chachoengsao Province, Thailand, which resulted in the collection of 45 kg of waste, contributing to the conservation of aquatic ecosystems and the enhancement of awareness of marine environmental protection.

 

Company: “K” Line Pte Ltd (Singapore)
Initiative: KLPL Supplier Conference 2025

Description: The company held a supplier conference for its key suppliers. It provided insights on how to integrate ESG considerations into business processes and promoted alignment with the Singapore Green Plan and the Group’s Code of Conduct. The company also collaborated with five external expert organizations, including the Singapore Environment Council, to enhance sustainability throughout the supply chain and foster a shared understanding.

 

Company: Daito Corporation (Tokyo, Japan)
Initiative: Initiatives to Reduce Environmental Impact Through the Installation of Solar Power Generation Panels

Description: Solar power panels with a generation capacity of 200 kW were installed on the rooftop of the Honmoku Logistics Center to reduce the environmental impact of logistics facilities. This initiative is expected to reduce annual CO2 emissions by approximately 93 tons and significantly lower electricity consumption, resulting in cost savings of approximately JPY 3,600,000 per year.

 

Company: “K” Line America, Inc. (USA)
Initiative: One Initiative, Many Goals: A Sustainable Community Impact Project

Description: In collaboration with a community organization that supports women and children fleeing domestic violence, the company conducted a food drive*2 that integrates food assistance, environmental consideration, and environmental education. Using reusable bags and distributing environmental education materials, the initiative contributed simultaneously to the achievement of multiple SDGs.

 

Company: Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (Tokyo, Japan)
Initiative: Reduction of Fuel Consumption Achieved Through Energy‑efficient Propeller Polishing

Description: Established standard propeller-polishing practices during each dry-docking*3 to restore propulsion efficiency. This initiative contributes to a reduction in fuel consumption and facilitates sustainable and scalable energy-saving operations.

*1    “K” LINE Environmental Vision 2050: Blue Seas for the Future is a set of long-term environmental guidelines that was established in 2015 and revised in 2020. It lays out action plans for reducing GHG emissions, including the introduction of ammonia, hydrogen and other zero-emission fuels and bio-LNG, synthetic fuels and other carbon-neutral fuels.
