| "K" LINE Ordered New Panamax

| Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" LINE) is proud to
announce that it has decided to have 5 new container vessels, each with capacity of 4000
TEU. Considering competitiveness and delivery timing, these new vessels will be built by
Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., Korea. All the vessels will be delivered from December
2004 to February 2005. In addition to these new buildings, options are being held for
another three vessels. |

| "K" LINE has developed its flagship service with
13 containerships with each capacity of 5500 TEU from 2001 to 2002, but with the global
increase of cargo volume, and business expansion, fleet development with short term
charter had been done parallel. The new 5 Panamax vessels will be replaced with these
short term charter, which will assure more stable and competitive fleet. |

Adoption of turbo generator system to reduce CO2 emissions. |

Use of new refrigerant in reefer and air-conditioning
equipment in which the damage factor to Ozone is extremely low. |

Prevention of massive oil pollution by departmentalized fuel
