| NAMING 12 NEW CONTAINER VESSELS | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.
(hereafter called “K”LINE), Tokyo, is proud to announce that decision has been made for
the names of its 12 new container vessels, each with an individual capacity of 5500TEU. These POST PANAMAX vessels are to be completed during the period from July 2001 to September 2002 and to be phased in into both European and North American services. Having strengthened its fleet with these new-buildings, “K”LINE will be able to provide exceptional service throughout its major container fleet as a result of the additional space, faster speed and more reliable schedules. In selecting the names for the vessels as shown in the list below, all our colleagues worldwide were invited to participate in the naming contest, asking that they limit their suggestions so as to continue using our familiar naming method utilizing “bridge” and those names that are widely known and globally loved. This project is expected to lead to other developments in the 21st century, encompassing all sectors of the company, and it is believed that these new names are appropriate for the fleet that will be playing an important role in the next generation. |
