Completion of Ohi New Terminal No.2 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| We would like to
announce that a series of reconstruction work of Ohi No.2 Terminal has completed on March
31, 2000. The reconstruction work has been practiced as part of a rearrangement project of
all Ohi Terminals propelled by Tokyo Port Terminal Public Corporation (named hereafter
TPTC), owners of the Terminals. The Ohi terminals started to be leased to individual operators including "K"LINE in early 1970’s. Since then, through-terminal cargoes (in & out) have been increased to a significant extent in volume. Containerships are being enlarged in size and carrying capacity. Such being the case, TPTC decided to proceed with this-time overall rearrangements of the terminals. As for terminals Nos.1 and 2, reconstruction work for buildings/houses has been exerted successively covering new office (next door to administration bldg.), repair shop for containers with a roof, office for repair shops and maintenance house. Back in July last year, a new gate started to operate. The whole series of reconstruction work has ended up with rearrangements of the yard. "K"LINE Tokyo Container Terminal, Nos.1 & 2 have been reconstructed into two berths, 660 meters long (used to be 550 meters), dimensions increasing to 259,500 square meters (increased by 40,000 square meters) and depth of water 15 meters deep (except for No.1 Terminal). "K"LINE is standing ready anytime for large-sized containerships. |
