| We would like to
announce that Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (KLINE) has placed an order with
Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI) for the latest models of simulators for training on
cargo handling and boiler operations onboard the specialized carriers; Liquefied Natural
Gas (LNG) carriers, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) carriers and Oil tankers. This order is aimed to maintain and upgrade a high level of technology necessary for safety in navigation/cargo operation. Our determinations is being made in compliance with New KLINE Spirit for 21(New K-21), one fundamental direction of which is to further encourage and promote safety in cargo transport and preservation of the earthly environment. 1.Outline of the Simulators The latest models of
simulators consist of: The simulator for LNG
carriers has the functions of the IMS (Integrated Monitoring System) allowing for the
automated cargo handling operations. By means of the simulators we are going to
place, we are able to effectively drill crews to cope with any extraordinary/urgent state.
At an instructors station can be manipulated setting of a training mode and also
setting/cancellation of simulated difficult cases.
2.Purposes of the Simulators The above functions of the simulators can lead each and every trainee to learn how important it is to strictly follow operational manuals and to carefully monitor what state they are in all the time during their work. Having the trainees to be well-prepared at any time against a state of emergency, we will bring them up to such a high level of professionals who will be capable of practically performing best-efficiently and effectively in whatever situation of emergency they may be.
3.Place of the Simulators and Whos Trained Back in July 1999 KLINE and KHI commenced developing jointly training programs and software for simulations. In spring next year is to be installed a simulator for LNG carrier. In succession, we are going to completely finish installing the rest for LPG carriers and Oil tankers within the next fiscal year and to proceed to start training immediately. All the simulators are to be placed at the Companys training center in Tokyo (Machida City). Training is to be exercised for Japanese and foreign crews of KLINE-related specialized carriers for transport of LNG, LPG and Oil. In the future the Company is going to be ready to provide training services for trainees from outside the Company. The simulators will be dividable and transferable to abroad; KLINE Manila Training Center is one choice.
