"K" Line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.), Tokyo and Yangming (Yangming Marine Transport Corporation), Taipei are pleased to announce their agreement to enhance their Asia-Europe Service from November 1998, subject to approval from appropriate authorities. The new AES joint service will continue to offer twice-weekly service consisting of the Japan-Asia-Europe service and the Taiwan-Asia-Europe service, but with the following changes in vessel deployment. Eight 3500 TEU vessels will be provided by "K" Line in the new Japan-Asia-Europe service. "K" Line also intends to introduce calling at Egypt from where East Mediterranean market will be covered by feeder service. In the new Taiwan-Asia-Europe service Yangming will provide seven high speed 3500 Teu vessels to improve current Loop 2 service using eight vessels. This new joint service will enable "K" Line and Yangming to offer competitive transit times and ensure that capacity is available to meet increasing demand.
