network covering 15 major countries.In the meantime, there was a change in management during the term under review. At the meeting of directors after the shareholders' meeting taking place in June 1999, Mr. Mitsuo Mori was elected as President. He was former Managing Director of "K" LINE based in London. In the meantime, Mr. Susumu Sumiya, former President, has retired. The new President pointed out his directions in brief: a. Further rationalization of all work must be continued in accordance with the three-year management plan. b. Individuals are required to train themselves to become competent professionals. c. | Shinki, founded
back in 1973 for ship repairs, advanced to and since has been developing its presence in
the business fields of overall administration/operation of environment and sanitation
plants, manufacturing and repairs of various machines. Since the 1990s, it has been positively challenging to the environment preservation business. The Company is commissioned to operate garbage incineration facilities by some local governments. This business is a major part of its present activities. It is also tapping the new business areas such as trial run of garbage incinerators, manufacturing/sales of a new brand of fresh garbage disposal machines named "BIOCOSMO" that is able to biodegrade garbage and development of other types of incinerators.
