Dow Jones Sustainability Index "Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes"(DJSI World)
recognizes "K" LINE

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" LINE) is pleased to announce that 'Dow Jones', a US-based global index company that is famous for its 'Dow Jones Industrial Average,' revised the list of companies in its Sustainability Index 'Dow Jones Sustainability World Indexes (DJSI World)', and that "K" LINE is included in the index since September 22, 2003.

The Index covers the top 10% of the biggest 2,500 companies in the Dow Jones World Index from 34 countries, 59 business segments, in terms of environmental, social and human rights performance and which are considered to be highly sustainable.

As of 22 September 2003, all members of DJSI World total 317 companies. Among them we can see 35 Japanese companies in total including 30 existing members, such as Canon Inc., Sony Corp., Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd., NEC Corp., etc. and 5 new members, i.e., Toyota Motor Corp., Itochu Corp., Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Ltd., Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd., and ourselves.

The index is very important for investors who are keen to SRI. Our customers can refer to the Index as standard of CSR achievement.

For your reference, we have also been included in another world-wide SRI Index, the 'FTSE 4 Good Global Index.'
