"K"Line's Car Carrier passed the "SSP verification" and "Ship security audit"(for ISPS code)
as the first Japanese flagged vessel

On the 9th February, "K"Line's Car Carrier "M.V. Indiana Highway (Ship-management company : Taiyo Nippon Kisen Co., Ltd.)" passed the Class NK's "Ship security audit (based on the owner's optional application)" for ISPS code as the first Japanese flagged vessel which was following the "SSP approval".
This shows "K"Line Group's positive attitude for the "global maritime security" issues.

ISPS code was adopted at the Diplomatic Conference on Maritime Security held in London in December 2002 to enhance maritime security under good cooperation of ships and port facilities to detect and deter the acts which threaten security in the maritime transport sector. This new code applies to the cargo ships of 500 gross tonnage and upwards (and others).

"K"Line Group is positively working on the "ISPS code" issues in order to adapt all fleet vessels to the code by the 1st July 2004 on which the code will become effective.
