"K"Line is to charter newly-built LR2 sized Petroleum Product Carriers

"K"Line takes pleasure in announcing its decision to charter in two newly-built *LR2 sized petroleum product carriers (105,000 deadweight tons each) on a long-term basis from Japanese shipowners. (* LR stands for Large Range)

Both carriers are to be built in Sumitomo Heavy Industries Marine & Engineering Co., Ltd., with delivery of the first one during 4th quarter Fiscal 2006 followed by the other during 2nd quarter Fiscal 2007.

At present, "K" Line is operating three LR2 sized petroleum product carriers for transportation clean petroleum product like naphtha mainly from the Middle East Gulf area to the Far East Countries.

With joining of these 2 chartered-in LR2 sized carriers in "K"Line's fleet, "K" Line will continue to extend every effort to respond to the expanding market of clean petroleum product transportation supported by continuously increasing demand of chemical product and hopes to get customer's satisfaction with upgrading of "K"Line's service quality accordingly.
