"K" Line Concludes 10 year Contract with Jiangsu Shagang Group Co., Ltd to Transport Australian Iron Ore to China

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) has concluded a long-term contract with Jiangsu Shagang Group Co., Ltd., located in Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province, China, for the transport of iron ore.

Jiangsu Shagang Group Co., Ltd. is one of the largest private iron and steel companies in China, established in 1975, and its crude steel production is expected to be around 8 million tons in 2004. In 2005 when a new blast furnace is completed, the Group's crude steel production is projected to reach 12 million tons per year. "K" Line will play a major role in the transport of raw materials to Jiangsu Shagang Group.

In "K" LINE Vision 2008, a new management plan, "K" Line places transport of raw materials for iron and steel as a business sustaining global growth and is focusing to expand the business with active investment. The Contract is a part of such management strategy, and "K" Line will continue its efforts to secure new transport contracts of raw materials for iron and steel in Japan, Asia and Europe.
