Delivery of "CAPE ACACIA" 205,000 DWT-Type Bulk Carrier

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" LINE) takes pleasure in announcing that "CAPE ACACIA" of 205,000 DWT-Type Bulk Carrier was delivered at Saijo Shipyard of Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. Her delivery is to take part of our focusing on increase in our activities of raw materials transport for steel manufacturers by capesize bulk carriers.

She will be engaged in raw material transport for JFE Steel Corporation. To maximize our customers' satisfaction, "K" LINE has adopted a new ship type construction and equipments in consideration of environment in tie-up with Imabari Shipbuilding, with the following concept:

1) Wide-breadth/shallow-draft for cost reduction owing to an increase of loaded cargo volume

2) Double-hull for upgrade of cargo-handling efficiency in discharging. A double-hull type makes every cargo hold flat in comparison with a single-hull, whereby contributes to more efficient cargo operation inside the hold. Eventually, it also serves us through safety and environment management.

3) For environmentally-friendly,

1) Adoption of R404A as substitute for Fluorocarbons

2) Adoption of Central Cooling system with fresh water and Air Seal system of stern Tube as the facilities preventing oil leakage to the outside of a ship, etc.

Ship particulars of the above newbuilding:

LOA 299.9 meters; Breadth 50.0 meters; Depth 24.5 meters;

Dead Weight about 205,000 metric tons
