"K" Line Launches Visibility Management System

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) today announced the introduction of a Supply Chain Management System known as Visibility Management System (VMS) that was developed to meet the changing logistics needs of the market.

VMS is an internet-based supply chain management system developed by "K" Line that provides complete visibility by event (from Container to SKU level), including ability to manage the entire supply chain with exceptions. With VMS, a customer will be able to monitor shipment, booking, container, purchase order and product information; details and status updates from logistics partners; reports on current and historical activities and notifications about transit delays. It gives logistics and procurement managers, real-time, web-based visibility to shipments. VMS can be used through an easy-to-use Web interface whereby the customer can conduct real-time inquiries about the status of inventory and shipments and get immediate answers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

VMS is already in place with several clients. For example, one of "K" Line Logistics' companies offers a combination of logistics and agency services for a North American customers procuring goods from Asia using VMS as the base system. VMS is also utilized by major Japanese Automobile Manufacturers to act as an interface linking procurement, packing and shipping companies for cargo moving to major factories all over the world.

VMS offers a complete logistics platform for all players taking part in the supply chain to interact, and to share information. In doing so, VMS provides clients with the ability to micro-manage their supply chain. VMS is developed together with many of "K" Line's logistics clients and it was designed in accordance with their requirements.
