Coscon, "K" Line and Hanjin launch South China Middle East
Express Service (SMX)

Cosco Container Lines Co., Ltd. (COSCON), Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) and Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd. are pleased to announce the launch of South China Middle East Express Service (SMX), a fixed day weekly express service linking South China with Middle East.

This new joint express service is expected to commence beginning of October 2005.
The intended port rotation is as follows:

Kaohsiung (Tue/Tue) - Hong Kong (Wed/Thu) - Yantian (Thu/Fri) - Singapore (Mon/Tue) - Dubai, Port Rashid (Tue/Wed) - Bandar Abbas (Wed/Thu) - Singapore (Fri/Fri) - Kaohsiung (Tue/Tue)

Total 4 vessels of effective 2000TEU capacity will be deployed, 2 vessels by COSCON and 1 each by "K" Line and Hanjin.

SMX will provide a fast and reliable service to shippers with a transit time of 11 days between South China and Dubai which is one of the fastest in the market. Recognizing the tremendous potential of the trade, the Partners believe the launch of SMX will cater the growing demand of the customers from Far East to Middle East area.

"K" Line indicates the launch of SMX will not affect the current co-operation relationship with PIL and MISC in CSG/MEX services.
