FTSE SRI Index "FTSE 4 Good Global Index" recognizes "K" LINE

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" LINE) is pleased to announce that 'FTSE', a UK based global index company, reviewed a list of companies in their SRI (Socially Responsible Investment) index 'FTSE 4 Good Global Index', and that "K" LINE has been included in the index since March 21, 2003.

The Index is one of the most famous SRI (Socially Responsible Investment) indices in the world, which lists CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) conscious and highly reliable companies to meet the criteria in the area of environmental, social and human rights performance and other social contribution activities. These indices are very important for investors who are keen about SRI (Socially Responsible Investment). And also, our customers can refer to the Index as standard of our CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) achievements.

At present the Index includes 823 companies in the world including 60 Japanese companies, among which are Nippon Yusen Kaisha (JAPAN), Peninsular & Oriental Steamship Navigation ("P&O", UK), Leif Hoegh (Norway), as international shipping companies.

FTSE was founded in 1995 as a joint venture between the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange. The company is creating and managing many kinds of famous global indices such as eFTSE All-World Index seriesf other than FTSE 4 Good Index series.

*FTSE 4 Good Index series
The indices were developed by FTSE in 2001 for SRI (Socially Responsible Investment). The qualification depends on the investigation of each entity. Selection criteria are set in three main areas; environmental sustainability, relationships with stakeholders and upholding and supporting human rights. Licensing revenues from these indices are contributed to UNICEF (United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund) by FTSE.
