Launching of 13th Post-Panamax Containership

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd., Tokyo, (hereafter called "K" LINE) is proud to announce launching of "Genoa Bridge"constructed by Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., Japan, the last 5500TEU container vessel in series of 13 new buildings, which entered port of Shanghai on September 11 to start her service in North America and Asia/Europe-Mediterranean pendulum loop.

By this new deployment, vessel upgrading program by "K" LINE, together with Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp., Keelung (Yang Ming) in both Transpacific and Asia/Europe-Mediterranean services with their latest Post-Panamax fleet of 20 x 5500 TEU vessels (13 vessels by "K"LINE and 7 by Yang Ming) was completed. This new series enables customers to enjoy improved and more stable containership service with most competitive transit time.

Recently strong bookings have resulted in every vessel being full with cargoes mainly from Chinese ports where market is still growing. "K"LINE will continue to provide customers with the very best transportation available in this industry.
