Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (hereunder referred to as "K" LINE) takes pleasure in announcing plans to establish "K" Line (Japan) Ltd. (hereunder referred to as KLJ), separating/developing mainly containership sales work into an independent entity. KLJ is expected to begin its operations October 1, 2002 with capitalization totally provided by "K" LINE.

KLJ, as a general sales agent in Japan, is going to take over the entire work after October 1, 2002 in relationship to sales activities of containership business, etc. currently performed by "K" LINE in Japan.

Its service is to cover not only Japan-loaded and-discharged cargo but also outside-Japan cargo that is handled by customers in Japan.

The new company will take over work of the Containerships Sales Group and customer service sector at the Head Office in Tokyo plus the Kansai Branch and Nagoya Branch. It will also proceed with nominating agents in Hokkaido, Shimizu, Chugoku, Kyushu, etc. as its sales agents instead of "K" LINE, and will proceed with the building of a nationwide business network.
