“K” Line is pleased to introduce “K” Line Environmental Vision 2050 as the long-term environmental management vision for the global environmental conservation toward 2050 in order to realize a sustainable society, hand on this blue and beautiful ocean to the next generation.

“K” Line Group recognizes that its business activities impose a burden on the environment, and has expressed its determination to minimize its environmental impact in its Environmental Charter. We are pursuing numerous initiatives. Under our Environmental Management System (EMS), we determines specific activities for environmental preservation, sets numerical targets, and makes improvements based on the extent to which the targets were achieved.
Operation of engines and boilers results in emission of sulfur oxide (SOx) generated through combustion of sulfur content of fuel, nitrogen oxide (NOx) generated during combustion, and particulate matter (PM). We apply a variety of measures to reduce these emissions, including the use of low-sulfur fuels, development and the introduction of equipment that reduces NOx, and combustion improvers.
We strive to use resources efficiently and reduce waste during voyages and in onshore offices. We also undertake measures for recycling iron and non-ferrous metal from scrapped ships.
Marine organisms adhering to the ship’s hull surface or contained in the ballast water can move to other areas with the ship and influence other ecosystems there. We help marine life and ecosystems remain as they are through a variety of measures for preserving biodiversity.
Consumption of petroleum-based fuel and electricity for maneuvering ships, terminal equipment, and vehicles emits CO2 as a greenhouse gas. We strive to curb CO2 emissions while maintaining the quality of our services, by improving the efficiency of energy use to minimize fuel consumption.
Serious marine pollution can be caused if crude oil or petroleum-based products as cargo or fuel or lubricant oil used for ship navigation leak into the sea. We apply diverse measures for preventing leakage of oil, including adoption of structure and equipment for preventing leakage and use of equipment that does not use hydraulic power.
