| Daito Corporation, a group company of "K"
Line, will Introduce |
| Environmentally Green Type of "Hybrid"
Transfer Crane at Container Terminals |
| |
| Daito Corporation, a group company of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha,
Ltd. ("K" Line), announces it has placed purchase orders for 3 units of a new
environmentally-green and economy-related "hybrid" transfer crane to be
introduced at its Ohi Terminal in Tokyo and Honmoku Terminal in Yokohama. This
newly-developed "hybrid" transfer crane has a system that reduces fuel
consumption by reusing electricity that has been transformed from energy that has been
generated when lifting container is moving down. |
| |
| First one (TCM) will be delivered at Honmoku A5,6 in August
2007, with second and third ones (TCM and Mitsui) to be delivered at Ohi Terminal No.1
& No.2 in October and November 2007. This will be the first time ever in Japan in
which a container terminal has introduced such one-over-five-high type "hybrid"
transfer crane. Manufacturers are TCM Corporation and Mitsui Engineering &
Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. |
| |
| Benefits for environmental preservation compared with
current transfer cranes: |
| |
| 1) |
Reduction in Oil Consumption: 40-50% decrease |
| 2) |
Prevention of Air Pollution (Emission of CO2, etc.): 40-50%
decrease |
| 3) |
Reduction in noise by advanced type engine |
|
| |
| Daito Corporation is also planning to introduce another 2
units of this "hybrid" type transfer crane at Ohi Terminal as well as one more
unit at Honmoku Terminal in 2008 after checking data following introduction of the first 3
above-mentioned "hybrid" type transfer cranes. |
