| In order to increase and stabilize profitability in the energy resources transport business and expand its operation, we have entered the offshore energy development business segment and established Energy Transportation Business Development Group in July 2008, under the "expansion of business into upstream energy-related segments" as one of the corporate business strategies noted by "K" Line Vision 100. Entering upstream segments of offshore energy development business is expected to provide opportunities for synergy effects with our existing energy transport business and integrated energy-related services from offshore to transportation for our valued clients. |

| Offshore Support Vessel Business |
In October 2007, we established K Line Offshore AS (KOAS) as a joint venture with a Norwegian shipping investment firm. KOAS ordered two large anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) and four large platform supply vessels (PSV) to be delivered during 2010 - 2011 and established itself as a brand in offshore support vessel business segment by developing competitive services with large, high-end-design ships.

| MODU (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit) business |
In June 2009, "K" Line participated in a project for an ultra-deepwater drillship to be chartered by Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) for pre-salt exploration together with Mitsui & Co., Ltd., Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha and Japan Drilling Co., Ltd. Having obtained majority share of the project company by these four companies, Etesco Drilling Services, LLC (EDS), which was established by Etesco Construções e Comércio Ltda (Etesco) of Brazil, will provide charter service for a maximum of 20 years after delivery of drillship scheduled in January 2012 ordered by EDS.

| LNG FPSO projects |
In June 2008, we became the largest shareholder and a strategic partner of FLEX LNG Ltd. (FLEX) that promotes LNG FPSO projects. Providing transportation of produced LNG and other related offshore services as a strategic partner in addition to assisting projects of FLEX, we can utilize synergies with our LNG transportation services backed by our LNG carrier experience of more than 25 years and offshore services.

Utilizing technology and experiences from LNG activities and in cooperation with US based EnerSea Transport LLC, "K" Line has been focusing its efforts on developing the industry’s leading CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) carrier business since 2002 and has continued initiatives to realize the first CNG marine transportation project.
