| "K" LINE is a Pioneer in Maritime
Transportation of Cars |
"K" LINE provides safe and speedy car
transportation service as a pioneer in the business of owning and operating car carriers.
As early as 1970, Toyota Maru No. 10 was placed into service as Japans first
specialized car carrier, so-called PCC (Pure Car Carrier). Constant and positive efforts
have been continuously practiced for strengthening our PCC fleet and upgrading quality of
its services. |

| Safe Transportation & Environmental Friendliness |
"K" LINE has been endeavoring to innovatively
reinforce its car carrier fleet with in-depth consideration to environmental preservation
in particular, as well as to perform service in the handling of complete cars that is
entirely damage-free at all times during loading and discharging operations as well as
during ocean navigation.
From viewpoint of oil pollution prevention and environmental preservation, we adopted a
new method in which fuel and bunker oil tanks are designed to be placed within a
triple-bottom structure. This new method is expected to increase protective capabilities
of the tanks when a ships hull is damaged. |

|
| We have also succeeded in adopting an electronic control
engine onboard a car carrier for the first time. Fuel injection timing and timing of both
opening and closing of the exhaust valves are controlled with electronic signals. As a
result, it contributes greatly to reducing emissions of NOx (Nitrogen Oxide), and reducing
emission of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) and PM (particulate matter) when in low load operation |
| Furthermore, three ships in our fleet are equipped with a
soot removal system with ceramic filters to remove scattering of PM in exhaust gas. In
such a manner, we are endeavoring to reduce environmental loads through adoption of a
variety of the most up-to-date high technology. |

| Response to Multiple Customer Needs |
| Turning attention to recent automobile manufacturing
industries around the globe, production sites have been expansively shifting from the
traditional vehicle-producing countries to emerging industrial countries. Together with
this prevailing shift, logistics in the transport of complete cars is being more widely
globalized. With a view to global logistics continuing to diversify still more from now
on, we will continue endeavoring to introduce various types of ships in our fleet and
strengthen "K" LINEs service network covering the Atlantic, Southeast Asia,
Oceania, intra-Europe and China, doing our best to satisfy customer needs by taking a
positive and attentive attitude toward their requirements and what they expect from us. |
